Brooder Value?

I've searched to find out the cost of one of those free standing brooder things they have at the feed mill. A guy at work raises pheasants and it's too small for his operation. Said I could buy it..."just find out what it's worth and pay me less" Ok, but I can't find one for sale?! Any ideas? Before I waste another day looking around on the internet?

are you talking about a battery brooder, one with several brooder boxes stacked up?

well, a quick google on used battery brooders gives me ones priced from $90 to $400. the more tiers, the more valuable it is. if it's in like-new condition and fully functional on all tiers, i'd offer $100 per tier. if it's in good condition, maybe needs a few repairs, i'd drop to $50 per tier. if you're really good friends and you think you can go really low or it needs more than a few repairs, well, you get the idea. haggle a bit and i'm sure you'll be able to agree on a price. good luck!
