I am looking at making a brooder that is 4 x 8 and I would like to put the heat source in the middle. I read or saw something about a Hover Bator or something like that. Used with Electric or Not.

Does anyone have any directions or images on these?

I don't want purchase anymore books. I have purchased many.

I would like to make the brooder or heated portion in the middle of the 4 x 8 sheet of plywood so that there would be approx. 2 ft on each side they could run to get out and some exercise.

I would build my box 30 inches tall. Beyond that I am not sure if electric or some type of foil would be best? Prefer no electric if possible.

Thanks. This would be for 80 meat birds and possibly 25 new laying hens.

Thanks

Here is a pic I found on the web. We use a setup similar to this just not as tall. There is a 10 x 8 inch door that is hinged to be able to close it during really cold weather. We use standard light bulbs to heat it and seems to work good. Vary the temp by using different watt bulbs. Hope you get it figured out.
