This is my homemade brooder that has worked well for two rounds of chicks but I would like something better but don't want to spend a lot after recently buying a $350 incubator. If anyone knows of an inexpensive but reliable brand name brooder or a good homemade brooder I could really use a better setup.

the red square is a container lid marbles in it so the chicks don't drown in the very right corner is a cup with little gell balls that hold water and helps a little with humidity.

try using one of those big tubs and cutting a hole in the top for some wire big enough to put the heat lamp on top

I haven't seen the picture yet but do you use anything to control humidity I know it not that important when the get bigger but I was wondering about the first few days.

Is that one of rubber maid kind of tubs

It sounds like it works pretty well. Does do good at keeping temperature steady enough for them.

yes, when they get older I move the heat lamp up a bit to change the temp
