The first pic is of the Ameraucana egg that seems to be developing well.

This one is the Ameraucana that I don't think was fertile.

This one is one of the Marans that got kicked out and you can see the blood ring.

Everyone's eggs and chicks sound great! I have 4 thriving chicks under my broody, despite my mistakes, and 6 out of 10 eggs that appear fertil in an incubator! I'm due Mid- March and hope to stick em under a momma to raise. First try at that, so we shall see!

Tip for anyone who cares; here in North Carolina the schools no longer allow egg hatching but they have incubators sitting around not being used, and ours let me borrow them for my hatch. While I have to return them, I am getting chicks for free basically!

In that second video. with the egg that had a line..and then it looked as though it was "pulling" away from the inside of the egg.. That is what happened to my 2nd egg that died.. I posted about it earlier.. and it was dead.. it was a green gooey mess that STUNK oh boy did it stink.. I had to change the whole nest out.. but I had another box exactly the same.. so she didnt know...about 6 days before the chick was full in the egg no light would shine through the egg then 6 days later I saw that air sack light at the end and almost like liquid that would pull away from the side like that.. It popped the next day.. and it was nasty..

Hopefully this is not what has happend to your egg.. I am new at this and can be wrong.. oh and this little chick will be three days old today.. but is real small..

Now, see!!! There you go getting me worried again!!!

When I watched the video again, I thought the same thing. And you could be right, but I think it may just be the quality of the video. The eggs are really pretty dark. When we were doing it, there was movement inside. That is why I turned on the video. I only turned it on when we saw movement inside. But, I also thought the air cells were huge on that one.

Hey those were some great candling pics! I think I am going to go for it tonight and do the candling deed myself. My bo is still sitting intently on her eggs but we have been through some really cold weather and this is her first time so I'm trying to remain objective about what her success rate will be. Sorry about the eggs that were not good, but the documentation itself is valuable.

Leah-yes I know I'm crazy :

THis is my first time with a broody and I've been worried about the cold weather too. UGH! This is stressful!
