Broodiness gene?

Is the broodiness gene carried by both male and female in chickens? For instance, if two breeds were bred, one being a broody breed and the other not known for being broody, would it matter which breed was the hen and which was the roo? Thanks!

IMO it doesn't matter because they'll pick up traits of both parent breeds.
Add to that, even non broody breeds will go broody occasionally.
I've had plenty of broody Leghorns.

Don't think there is actually a 'broody gene'.

Some birds will go broody, some won't.
