Just wondering if newly hatched BQ's & CQ's are ok to go in the brooder together ?
How long can they be together in shared quarters if that's ok ?

Was expecting a button hatch yesterday and coturnix in a few days but we've 1 of each flopping around the 'bator right now just minutes old

should be fine as long as they are the same size. once size becomes a difference they will have to be seperated. also, it would be best to put them in as young as possible (just hatched) so they think they are their siblings b/c they imprint on eachother in the brooder

I agree with quail keeper though i've kept them together indeffinatly before

However once they are breeding age it's best to separate them as the button will get the bad end of the deal aggression, pecked, mounted (feathers pulled) etc. I've never had a coturnix kill abutton but when they are first hormonal they can be bullies at times.

My first ever quail hatches consisted of 2 A&M and a button, which all turned out to be males. They were together until the 2 A&M started fighting, then I removed the aggressor. The button and the other coturnix were together until my other buttons were old enough to go with him...he's about 3 months older than they are. So the button and coturnix were together for about 4 months. Usually the button male was the one getting 'frisky' with the coturnix's.

Didn't you get button eggs from me as well? Or is that another batch?

Yep, I got buttons from you ( in the past & recently ) . They are due in 24 - 48 hours. Should have been with the coturnix but they decided to go early

The current hatching buttons are an Ebay batch.
My living room is starting to look like a quail farm !!!

What color coturnix do you have ?
These chicks from your eggs are quite the color assortment
