Brooding Goslings (A little help with goose 101!)

When our goslings first hatch in my bathroom I have large plastic containers I put them in. I also have smaller ones. When they cry I put them in the smaller one and bring them where I am so they can see me. But I do put them back up and yes, they cry but not for long they get tired and go to sleep and make their lovely cooing!

I'm hoping to get at least four American Buffs, but it really depends on how many are available/how well the breeder's hatch goes!

We ended up rescuing an abandoned goose egg, and it hatched today. I am completely unprepared for this. Right now it is fluffing in the incubator with 1 baby chick. Can it be in the same brooder as the chick? What kind of temps does it need to be at. It hatched just about 4 hours ago and still hasn't seem to stand up very well (chickens don't take long to stand up and get around). Is it ok? When can I take it out?

Goslings take longer to recover after hatching then chicks do. So just give the gosling time to sleep and grow strong. Leave the gosling in until it drys off. After it drys off you can put it in a container with a heat lamp on it at one side of the container so it can move if it gets to warm or too cold.

This came from the duck thread but ducks and geese require simular care when first hatched so You can use this guide .. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/750869/raising-and-caring-for-ducklings#post_10611711 and make sure when your gosling does stand up it cannot be burned by the heating element in your bator. and I think it will enjoy the company of the newly hatched chick, but will be very lonely without one of its own kind.
