I'm in need of some serious help, I have 19 RIR hens, but no rooster.. however, I have a hen that thinks she's sitting, and I can't keep her off the nest no matter what...I haven't seen where she has eaten much at all, and I'm very concerned for her health, is this normal for hens to do this?

Yes its normal, and pretty difficult to break. there are lots of suggestions around the forum from ice to putting the hen in a cage.

I left my hen to sit for a while, each day I would bring her out when I threw sunflower seeds for the troup. After that didn't work, I finally removed the nest box she was in - and that worked. She finally gave up.

Do a search (at the top of the page) on "how to break a broody" !!

Or order some fetile eggs and let her hatch them !!
