We have a buffy sitting on a clutch of eggs which just started hatching today. We moved her away from the flock about two weeks ago when she was serious about setting to an outdoor run. She is on hay on a pallet. Today, when checking the chicks, we noticed that the hay and run are covered in tiny, tiny, brown bugs that crawled all over me. What do we do! Should we remove mama and chicks and treat them somehow? wood ash? pesticides? what's safe for both of them? If we separate them, will she take them back?

Thanks for any help!

powder her with your powder ( we use pestine) not with DE . when they settle under her they will get it to. don't do it to thick, just a light powder. also they will be mites in the straw/ hay so that will need to be removed and powdered ( you can use a mix of DE and other stuff do this
