I have never had guineas before and would like info about keets, please.

How long do you need to keep a lamp on them, if you use a lamp?

Do you use a heat lamp to brood them, and would it be done like with chicks - start out at 95 and drop 5 degrees each week till 70 degrees?

I know you are to use game bird food and if you can't find that, strombergs says turkey food could be used. Any other suggestions about keet feeding?

I have 6 keets in the brooder with 7 chicks right now. They are all just over a month old and so far the only thing I've done different is feed game fowl starter rather than regular chick starter. Now that they are older I also feed them bits of tuna and cat food, and they love it. They also seem to go through a lot more water than chicks do. Keets grow faster than chicks do, at least mine have. Depending on how many you plan to get make sure your brooder is pretty large, or that you have access to a larger one when you need it. Mine is approximately 4x4x2 and they've just about outgrown it.
