Hi! I just bought 6 bantam chicks only 1 week old. The store suggested to hand raise to be friendly with children.they have been cuddling together in my neck shoulder area and sleeping. Is that okay? They're becoming so cuddly in only 3 days!!

Hi :welcome
Glad you joined the flock. I believe it's ok to hand raise them as you are. Have raised all mine like this and they have made great pets very friendly and still love sitting on laps and shoulders. Good luck with your chicks in the future :frow

Sounds like you are doing a good job - please be careful though, chicks make some unpredictable leaps and are slippery to hang on to. When they fall, they do not bounce. With very young chicks it's best to sit on the floor with them to minimize risks. Welcome to Byc.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

X3 you are doing it fine. Like drumstick diva said, remember they are small animals and a single fall or squeeze could kill or hurt them.

Good luck and have fun!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you are doing a fine job with the lovin'! But yes, keep them low to the floor so they don't fall. They can die from a fall from high shoulders and such. I find it is good to sit on the floor with them and let them climb all over my legs. If you do want to snuggle with them, do it on the couch or close to the floor so they can't get hurt.

Keep up the lovin'! You will have some very friendly lap sitters when they grow up! Enjoy your babies and welcome to our flock!

We're glad to have you.

You're doing a great job! The more handling chicks get, the tamer and sweeter they'll become.
