Brooding Pekin

We are pacing the maternity room waiting room. This is day 29, she is still sitting but nothing is happening. She rolled one egg out of the nest. We weren't sure if she meant to or it was an accident. We put it back and she rolled it out again. She apparently wanted no part of that one.

We haven't given up yet but it's not looking good for the home team. Hopefully, if this isn't going to work out she will walk away. I figure if she hasn't given up by day 35 we will need to move her on her way.

She has 10 eggs that she has pulled under her and spreads out to cover them up She is sitting 24)7 except she comes out about every third day to get in the pond. She takes a bath then goes back to her eggs. She has only occasionally come out for peas and corn treat time. I put a small bowl of food in her corner of the world and I moved one of the water bowls closer to her. We have picked up eggs, eggs and more eggs. Yesterday morning when I went to let them out one of the other female ducks was sitting on top of her. I have tried making another nest but the other females seem to have zero interest in laying in any nest except hers. If they can't lay there they just lay anywhere.. .no area is off limits to rhem.
Another female sitting on top of her is hilarious! As if she didn't even exist.

Geez. We called a friend this morning who has children who raise ducklings for 4-H. They are incubating some eggs due in 4 days. We were making plans to clean the nest out. We are feeling so bad because our Missy Miss has been sitting for 36 days now. We were going to get her 3 babies and put them in her nest while she took her afternoon swim in the pool.

I was taking a nap and my husband came in to tell me I am a grandma. U jumped up, ran out and there was the little yellow bundle of fur. And while I was oohing and awing I saw the second one looking at me.

I need to get back out there. My hubby ran to the store to get feed and I am in grabbing the waterer and feeder.

Hope she accepts them, might actually be better to let her hatch the ducklings out?

He said he had done it before and they accepted them fine but I"m glad we didn't have to do that. I just went out to make sure none of the other goobers were bothering her. She's eating the last part of the second's shell. She just stopped and rolled her eggs again but she's still sitting on the nest, covering the other eggs. She finally got tired of me hoovering and hissed me away.

It's only about 99 degrees in the shade outside today but she can't get her swim in now. She's too busy hiding her babies from the others.

We had this all planned out and we got caught in our unawares. We put the other ducks in the pen we were fixing for Missy and her babies. She's not going to be moving tonight. She is snuggled in her nest has her babies hid in the corner and under her. At this point I have no clue how many there are. I think she is still hatching eggs. I think she has 3 more so that"s 5 but I have to wait until in the morning so I can see and be sure. I tried to get a picture earlier but she is keeping them too hidden to get a good picture.
