In the Brooder
Is there an alternative way to brood chicks without using a lamp, if you don't have a broody hen? Reason I am asking, is because my last brooder caught on fire thanks to the lamp and actually caused a house fire. I lost all my silkie chicks but miraculously my ducklings survived. I have a friend that is hatching some silkies and has offered me some to replace the ones I have lost, but I am very wary of using a lamp now. I live in Alabama and the days it is 90 degrees right now but it still gets to the 40's sometimes at night.
