Wow! I've had three hens go broody on me. First a Welsummer, then a Columbian Wyandotte and now a Lt. Brahma. I got the Wellie some eggs and she sat for about 5 days before getting up and clucking to invisible chicks. I caved again and gave my Columbian Wyandotte eggs. We're on day #10. Only 11 more to go!!! :) I see that she is facing a different direction every day so that is promising. Today one of my Brahma's have been sitting in a nest. When it rains it pours I guess.

Here is a recent picture of "Rosie."

Day 14 update! I guess I don't know whether to consider it day 15 (set them under her in the evening) or 14, so I am conservative. She is still laying on them! :) One more week to go. I know I'll be watching her next weekend closely!!

My brahma is still broody. I came back from being gone all weekend to find a nest full of eggs and her laying on two eggs. She is persistant.

I am having a hard time not giving this girl eggs. She just got more agressive today. She is a light brahma.

Awwwww! Here's some pics of my Wyandotte and her babies.

She just let them try and go to the water by themselves today, they were so proud, and you could tell she knew what was coming. I was cracking up when they came screaming bloody murder back to her.

Thanks for sharing those photos! Neat!!! With my luck, the 11 chicken eggs will all be roosters! Right now, my goal is to get them to hatch!

Ok, today is day number 17!!! Still going strong! I'm starting to get eggcited. I have not candled in that I cannot reach her.. just my kids can. IF necessary I will go in there, but so far so good. I hope we have some success! I would love to have some more chicks! :) FOUR more days to go!

I can't win . Yesterday everything was fine in the morning. Then we went to a birthday party and was gone until evening. I got home and checked on them and the eggs were cold and broody was outside the coop waiting to be let back in. She integrated back with the other hens perfectly. I candled the cold eggs and found that 8/12 definitely showed signs of development. One eggs was just so dirty I left it in the nest. So, after candling I put them under my brahma who is broody who took to them like pigs to mud, mosquitos to blood & cats to milk. Broody #2, my wyandotte laid in the middle nest with no eggs overnight. Today, this is what I found. It will be interesting if some of them hatch. Due tomorrow or Tuesday.
