So one of my girls, at least I think it's only one, has started to lay. I've gotten three little eggs since Saturday. I'm pretty sure I know which one it is, since she's not been running away from my cockeral. Since she's started to lay I've seen one of my Ameraucanas sitting where I've found the eggs. All of my girls are roughly 21 weeks old. She's easily shooed off the nest when I check for eggs, and is acting just like herself except for that. Could she be going bloody? I read that Ameraucanas don't usually go broody. I know it's possible, but she seems young to be going that route. Just curious.

I was told that she was an Ameracuana when I bought her from the feed store.

I've got another one that is supposed to be an Ameracuana, so I guess we'll see once they start laying.

Just sounds like she is getting ready to lay/laying. Are these Ameraucanas or Easter Eggers?
That'd be my guess too.

Posting a pic of bird would tell the tale, but from feed store probably EE. Even EE's can lay blue.

I'm out of town until Monday, but I was looking online at pictures this morning and I think she's an WE. She has a black head and a gray body with brown 'highlights'. She has tuffs of hair in her cheek area. I'll see if my husband can snap a picture of her and send it to me.

Green legs is the biggest clue between Am and EE....
...and looking at plumage color/patterns here:

That's an Easter Egger then. True Ameraucanas are hard to find and only come in eight colors.

She has grey legs. Here's a picture of her.
