Well, since we now have two roosters, I'm wondering if the hens will ever go broody. I would love to have some hatched chicks, but I know absolutely nothing about it. When the hens start laying in a few months, should we got a Silkie or two? I've heard they go broody a lot.

Can anyone help me out or give some suggestions? I'm just wondering (and clueless).

EDIT: I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I can't help it! Everyone's so great, and it's wonderful to finally not have to go by trial-and-error on everything with the chickens.

Some breeds are more likely to go broody, but it really depends on the bird.
I have one that will go broody and sit on a golf ball, and I also have one that will plop an egg out wherever she happens to be and then run off.
