Broody and perhaps more?

My dear Orpington, Pepper, has been very broody the past two weeks. I also notice she only goes out and about when I pull her off the eggs, and then she just goes straight the dirt bath. I also noticed her face looks kinda like she has a five o click shadow and now I'm not sure if she always was like that or not.

Going to dust bathe is what my hen did right when she got off the eggs as well.

Are you going to let her hatch eggs? If not, I recommend breaking her.

How do I break her? We do have a roo (well,cockerel, nearly a roo) but my kids would wanna keep the chicks and 13 birds already is plenty but she would make a great mom lol.

You could see previous threads on how to break a broody hen. But your best bet is to seperate her in a dog cage and don’t let her have access to the nesting box. Read this article:
