Broody Australorp Now Mother Hen!!!!!! Lots and Lots of Pics!

OH. and to the OP. I had a broody BA. She was a wonderful mother. Her name way Sydney. (a coon got her in 08) She would take in any chick and take care of it. She was so wonderful. I thought that was not typical of the BA though. I sure miss her.

Day 20...

My GOODNESS!!!! I leave for a few hours, and everyone in Michigan checks in! :)

4 PIPS!!!! And all kinds of peeping going on.

My hen is so excited. Every time they start chirping, she stands up and looks down between her legs to see what's going on.

When I first got home there were 3 pipped, now there's 4, but none of them have started to cut a line around the egg.

I may have chicks tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is the official hatch day!

Just don't reach under her and check the eggs too much...during the hatch they need the humidity from her, plus you don't want her to stress out.
