@JacinLarkwell you did notice that the hen continues to turn the eggs that have pipped. I'm glad to get that confirmed. I suspected that but I'd never seen it before. I don't have cameras on them and generally leave my broody hens alone. I'm going to link a few others that might be interested in that if they don't already know. I'm sure I'll miss other people.

That is interesting and does make me feel better about my hens hatching eggs. I wonder if she's correcting them if the chick that's already hatched had shifted them

What camera are you using?

This one!! For the price, it does a great job. Solar powered, night vision, 2 way speak, and an alarm. Quality is good. And my coop is not near my house, but you'll need to have a good router/extender for range.

I'm starting to think lockdown is only to prevent change in humidity/temps and nothing to do with rotation. Goose and hawk babies will chirp to Mom to turn them over if they're in the egg the wrong way.

Turning is not necessary after two weeks or so of incubation. It doesn't hurt to turn them, it is just not necessary. If you are using an incubator with an automatic turner you want to turn the turner off and get it out so it doesn't get dirty during hatch and is harder to clean and so you don't have places the chicks can get a foot, wing or neck stuck. If you are hand turning you don't want to open the incubator after you boost up the humidity. Turning has nothing to do with a broody incubation, just an incubator. It is convenient to remove the turner at the same time you up the humidity, that's where the timing comes from.

And the less I disturb a broody hen, the better! I have no idea how she manages her eggs, but she's doing it right, or they wouldn't hatch!!!
