So our bantam went broody 2 weeks ago and we let her keep two eggs just to see if she was going to sit or not. Well today less than a week from hatching one of our RIR went into the nesting box and destroyed one of the eggs :(. We moved the RIR to a separate coop we happen to have (little one) and plan to have chicken dinner LOL. But now we only have one egg that will hatch. Will that one chick be ok alone? What if we need to move it to a brooder?
When can we put more eggs under the bantam?

We were excited to have two since a week ago we discovered 2 of our buffs are roosters not hens like we thought and now instead of gaining 2 for 2 we are only gaining 1 and losing 3. So we really want to hatch a couple more eggs.

Thanks. I've had chickens for a couple years now but this is the first time with keep roosters too and getting a broody one.

The chick will be fine alone it has mom so it has company.
Some people remove chicks from mom and give her more eggs. However if u remove the chick it will need company.
Happy hatching!

So just leave her with the bantam and no worries? We have raised nesting boxes :( should I move them to the small coop after hatching?

Yes we had one of our broodies chick jump out of the box and its neck was attacked by other hens... So hopefully you get a chick and i would move them to an isolated area until the chick is older...
