Broody Bielefelder

I got another bielefelder hen, a younger one this time, 6 months old. Well when I went to put her in the coop from the crate, she puffed and huffed and make CRAZY noises I’ve never heard a hen make before... She’s new to my flock so the other girls are confused by her strange behavior. Now she’s grumbling and complaining from the highest perch spot at the top of the run. Is she broody? Or just.....A baby...? My momma swears she sounds like a broody welsummer. Lol

A single bird put into an established flock with no introduction period?

She wasn’t put in by herself she was integrated with 2 other new ones. The other two are fine. They all settled down, but she still guards her nesting box. Steals others eggs to.....

She could be thinking about it, but not yet decided. If she starts sitting on the nests for extended periods of time, and stays on overnight, then you'll need to decide how you want to handle it.

I think I figured out what her behavior is from... I recently got a 4 month old tiny EE and she makes little baby noises and the new fielder answers back to her with weird clicks...could that be like maybe the fielder was broody had chicks, the chicks could have been taken. As the lady I got her from buys and hatches eggs from GFF maybe this hen hatched her own brood. I’ll ask the lady I got her from...
