Broody breaking question

I have gone back and forth with trying to break my broody hen or maybe giving her day old chicks from Wilco/Tractor Supply.

I just made my broody breaking pen and got a dog crate for this and other isolation chicken needs. It's a medium sized metal dog crate and I took out the black plastic tray to ensure airflow to help keep her cool during this process. I will see if 2-3 days in the pen helps!

Question: Do I need to reinforce the floor? The metal bars make gaps that are about 1'x3'ish. Will it hurt her feet to or cause any injuries?

I would think you should be okay. 2-3 days on that type of floor should be fine, if you notice after a few hours that she has discomfort then maybe put something down but I would think for that short amount of time she will be fine.

1x3 should be OK....most wire crates I've seen are more like 6x6.
I use 14ga 1x2 on bottom.
