My button quail, Cookies, has been sitting on eggs for 5 days now, and I'm not sure if I should take her mate out? Or if I have to when the chicks hatch?
Thanks

I had a female brood and hatch all by her self with the last of the sperm from her lost mate in her and a few eggs from her sister I gave her with them, and now I have my other pair that's brooding they are due to hatch in about 2_3 days and my male helps her brood on the eggs and keep watch to protect her too as for when they hatch im giving him one chance ! My fiancee is forcing me to give him a chance and I'm agreeing since he seems so loving and helpful to her but it's up to you. Here are pics if him sitting on the eggs with her at night

Aww, that's adorable!

I was just worried if he'd hurt the chicks?

My button is sitting on eggs too and the male couldn't care less. He is not acting aggressive towards her, but she doesn't want him near her nest. I hope everything turns out fine for you. You just have to wait and see how he reacts to the chicks and if he's bothering the hen.
Mine chittter noises at him to go away, i found out its when shes either dont want to deal with him or hes trying to get it on with her and shes like u step one foot in this nest and ill gut you i am hatching babies !

generally the dads help I my experience but Ravenlover knows more than me:p
Not a expert just living through experience and others knowledge plus the button book that was a lil pricy lol , was so happy my first autographed book
