I had put golf ball in nest to discourage the rough handling of eggs, one of my girls seems to alway claw too hard after laying and punctures her eggs. I hoped my hen would stand more chance of clawing the golf balls than her eggs. Anyhow, now I got a broody girl who is trying to hatch the golf balls. when I realized this I began laying a few eggs in with the golf balls ( 4 in total). Today I saw her out for her very quick daily potty run and I checked her spot ~ the eggs were gone (?)... NOT sure who or what got the eggs (im setting a trap tonight!!).. in the meantime I threw in 6 guinea hen eggs that I just put in the incubator last night and 1 chicken egg that was just layed..
MY question is; I have collected eggs that are now in a bowl on my kitchen counter.. are they still good for her to lay and hatch? I would much rather place them under her instead of golf balls and guinea hen eggs... Thanks
