Welp my ISA browns once again didn't get the memo that aint supposed to be a broody breed. Got one sitting in her nest box purring up a storm when I got the eggs from under her. Gonna wait it out till tomorrow and if she still sitting on the golf balls I'm putting her in the hatching crate with a dozen eggs.

Just talked to my 2 baby cousins and they were wanting chicks. Told them when one goes broody I'll let her hatch em some.

Just a bit of random rambling.

Keep us updated! I’ve got a broody on a nest, she’s on Day 7. She’s a Spitzhauben/Sebright mix, sitting on 2 Spitzhauben eggs. I only gave her 2 because I have enuf chickens, and she’s an inexperienced young hen.

Yeah this is a 2 year old bird but her first time.

I don't have the need for anymore birds myself. My cousins just moved to a 10 acre "farm" and the kids want animals.

My little hen went broody twice last month. I put her in the broody jail twice to break her broodiness, it took 3 days and nights each time. This month, not wanting to go thru that again I gave her the eggs, figuring she’d be a good mom.

Well this crazy thing kept on going to the roost but as soon as she woke up would sit in the nest all day until last night. She finally sit in the box all night on 3 golf balls. I'm moving her to my hatching cage and giving her 12 eggs. Be her first hatch any Jr's first kids after he took over for his daddy. Lets see how much RIR (Sr) GLW (Jr's mom) or ISA brown come out of them. I picked the GLW eggs out as I can tell which are which.

My 2 baby cousins are thrilled. They just went and got 6 full grown chickens as they have given up on one of mine ever going broody.

Ended up only putting 6 under her. This evening the first one hatched. Still watching. Had the remove the one and put it in my hatcher cabinet for tonight until I can get the crap dad has piled in my brooder cleaned out.

Oh and I bought a cabinet incubator and hatcher. Came across a good deal, $200 for both With a huge box of accessories for each one. They are older GQF units. The original owner was my uncle and he was the one that upgraded them over the years. Right now I have a dozen eggs going in the incubator. Ran both for a week first and both are set up and holds dead even heat.

After running these to heck with the crap Styrofoam junk I borrowed and failed 2 hatches with because it wouldn't hold temp one second to the next. Now to set up my quail army to complement my chicken bomber squadron. Then my duck navy on the pond. Complete world domination............
