Broody Chicken not getting fertile eggs for a 11 days?

I have a broody chicken (on her third day) that I'd like to put fertile eggs under. I can't get the eggs for another week, which means she'll be sitting on duds for 11 days total before I get the fertile eggs under her. Will this work?

Or will she likely give up on the eggs since it will probably be about 32 days from the start of her broodiness to hatching? Would it be dangerous to her to sit on eggs that long if she was willing? Thanks for any advice!

It depends on how serious she is. She may or may not. There is no way to tell for sure. As long as she gets off of the nest at least once a day to eat, drink and poop she should be ok. Good luck and have fun...

Thanks so much. We're going to give it a try. Moved her into a larger tractor for now and will be getting the eggs next Wednesday. Wish us luck.

Maybe for the time being put some fake eggs or golf balls under her and see how she is and when the eggs come take them out and put the eggs under her.
