My 'easter egger' is about a year old. She was starting to spend more time in the nest box. I thought that she was getting broody. I left her two eggs and then she moved to another nest box. She wouldn't eat or drink. I took her inside and started with some water and olive oil, thinking that she had an impacted crop. Then wondered if she could be egg bound. Did the vent exam and nothing. Someone recommended an antibiotic and I started her on Duramycin. I give her this with water and yogurt. She is alive but not doing better. I am now also giving her electrolytes as well. She does not have trouble breathing, sneezing, no discharge or wheezing. She is inside in a box with a heater set at 70 and we give her fluids, antibiotics & yogurt about every one to two hours through the day with a syringe. Most of the time she just drinks it down and goes back to sleep. Sometimes she flaps her wings and cries out when we do this. I have three other hens and one rooster, all of them are well and active. I hate for her to suffer, does she stand a chance? This started just about a week ago.
