i used normal chick food for my ducks and did just fine

Jayjay, I raised my last ducks on chick feed too, so it's good to know that nothings changed since then!

Well, so far no activity. Broody has been sitting on the eggs religiously, I have yet to catch her eating, or even pooping since I put her in her own place!

Should I be concerned that they haven't hatched yet? What's the best indicator for whether things are going well or not?

Thanks!

What day are they on?

Egg #1 is on day 28-29, and egg #2 is on 24-25. Again, I'm only guessing since I don't know for sure.

The #1 duckling hatched this morning!! I can't tell you what a relief that it is that at least something hatched! Hoping the other one will hatch soon too, but at least my efforts haven't been in vain!

Here's a picture of the cute little guy. He's a Pekin/Khaki Campbell cross.

Thank you all again for your help and advice!

Oh, and when can he/she be held? I want duckling to bond with Mama chicken, but still be sure she gets handled and socialized!

Will let you know if/when the other one hatches.

You do know don't you that mama hen isn't going to like it when baby duckling takes to the water like a.... like a.... well like a duck to water? It can be funny though.

Thanks for the heads up! I have heard some funny stories about the hens freaking out... It promises to be a good show!
