Broody chicken with fertile eggs!

You will be wisest to just quietly put that last egg in the garbage. Forget it! If you should hatch it, the hen will not be able to keep one that much younger--it couldn't keep up, if she even accepted it (??) Often hens would not find it as one of HERS and reject the chick. You would have to try to raise it yourself, heat, feed, and end up with a spoiled baby that would think you were the Mom and would not later, move with a flock of strange young birds! Don't feel badly, as Mother Nature doesn't always arrange things the way we expect! What a lovely flock, and do hope you can successfully and safely raise them. GOOD LUCK

Thank you..I'd rather have a horse chicken than a dead one, I couldn't bring myself to do that unless I knew for sure it was dead..I'll hope for the best, you never know lol She seen me take it..In past I've had chicks of different ages that the flock accepted no problem but heard of others that did have issues..Id liked to hope that she would accept it If she builds her trust in me like I've been working on..She's already allowing me to sit right next to her and babies now..
