Has anyone ever had a broody coturnix hen? When I went out to feed and collect eggs this evening one of my hens was ruffled and setting on all three eggs from her pen. All three eggs were warm and I had to lift her off of them. At first I thought she might be sick but she went right back to the eggs and tucked them under her. I left them just to see if she will continue to set.

It's possible, but highly unlikely. You should put a small covered box in there, so she doesn't get scared away, just to see if she is. Like I said, it is possible, so you never know!

oddly enough you want to know who acts broody in my one pen? My GOLDEN ROO HAWN! (A ROO). EVERYTIME I go to collect eggs he's puffed up and sitting on the eggs I have to all but shove him away so I can collect them. He piles them neatly underneath him too. It's really adorable but i know he wouldn't be a perminant layer because he's got girls to attend to LOL!

My female decided to go broody so I left her with her eggs to see what would happen. She hatched out 2 chicks. She's now sitting on another handful of eggs, hope she hatches a few more
