What did you do in the garden today?

Plugging away at garden work. I’ve been getting some clearing / weed whacking done between rain showers. I’ve got most of the peas trained up the trellis strings and started putting up hoops to hold shade cloth for our impending heat wave. Tomorrow is forecasted to be up near or above 90F. I’ll likely pull the two remaining heads of iceberg lettuce in the morning and harvest some of the red leaf lettuce and kale as well. Next week the temperatures are going to be above 90 for 3 to 4 days. I did manage to get some weed whacking and mowing done in the front yard this afternoon and tied up my dwarf apple tree to a more upright position. This little tree is finally full of developing apples. I’m still hoping to get the corn planted before the end of next week. If not, no corn this year.

can anyone confirm that trellising peas produces a better crop than just letting them run along the ground?
I grow edible pod peas that don't get that tall, about 3-ish feet. Instead of a trellis, I put tomato cages every few feet along the row. They can grab and climb the cages, and grow about 8-12" above that, no problem. It keeps the plants off the dirt, but I don't have to put up anything. And I can use the janky old tomato cages.
The oregano plant I have in a moderately shaded area is thriving, but the one in direct sunlight is struggling.
I have oregano in an area that doesn't get a lot of sun, and it likes it. The dill and sage I had there didn't.

I dug up and moved the sage to a sunny spot, and wow! it took off and will bloom this year!

How about using it as a flavoring for club soda if you can’t get it to set.
That's exactly what I will use it for!
