Broody duck attacked egg!

Does anyone know why my broody duck would do this to one of her eggs? I took the egg from her and put it in our incubator. I don’t know what else to do for this little guy. Blood is everywhere. Should I remove all her eggs from her???

When is hatch day? I know they will crush their egg to help the duckling hatch. Was she actually chewing the egg open? Is the duckling peeping can you see the yolk sac?

Hatch day is tomorrow… she was like biting at it. I cannot see the yolk sac, he’s still pretty snugged in its shell. Just blood everywhere on him. Her other eggs appear to be ok.

She must have chewed through veins to have bleeding. I wonder if she heard it peeping it may have internally pipped and she decided to help it hatch. Is the duckling peeping at all?
I saw one of my Muscovy step on her egg to help it hatch she crushed the shell all the way around.

Oh wow! My girl is a Muscovy… the baby is not peeping. Just sleeping at the moment.

But it is breathing? Have you heard anything from it?

Yes it is breathing but the little one has not made a sound though. I keep checking on him every 5 minutes or so.

You did the right thing putting it in the incubator. Hopefully it will still hatch. Keep us updated

It’s still alive, started chirping last night. Hopefully the little one will pull through.
