Broody duck breeds

So I’m trying to find breeds that go broody and will not fly away and still lay a good amount of eggs. Welsh Harlequin? Caygas? Blue Swedish?

I would go with WH. They lay a lot of eggs and often go broody. I've heard they're good moms too.

I have muscovy ducks and they go broody often. I have one sitting on her eggs right now actually. You'll have to clip their wings though as they can fly away.

Welsh Harlequins were bred from KCs, "Leslie Bonnet discovered a color mutation among his flock of Khaki Campbells and began selective breeding." Because of this they lay a lot of eggs like the KCs. In general they are quieter then KCs and have more variety in color.

Khaki Campbells are similar to Rouens or Mallards in terms of coloration though have more golden tans and brown. They are known for the large amounts of eggs they produce and have passed it on to WHs.

My Cayuga was a good mom, my Rouen, not so much. She lost 50% of her babies. Lucky for her, all the eggs my Cayuga hatched were actually hers. My mixes just hatched their first batch.. we will see

Thank you it did help! So what I’ve been reading that WH, and Cayuga are the way to go for broodys. And egg laying definitely khakis
