I have a khaki Campbell duck who built herself a lovey nest, and she’s sitting on her eggs but they aren’t fertile...I’m wondering if I’d be able to buy fertil eggs and put them under her, so she’d hatch them. I didn’t want to get more ducks or chickens, maybe something else like peafowel, quail, turkeys, or any others birds that might be neat to have, just as ornamental pet.
Have any suggestions? Is this possible to do with a duck? Would they eat so differently that she wouldn’t be able to raise them? She’s raised ducks from eggs before but that’s it.. Thanks in advance!

She can hatch any egg, but I would not advise letting her raise anything but ducklings and I say this because of how delicate the other species are. Quail are too small, and peachicks and poults sometimes need their mommas to show them how to eat. Then there is the water...

You should also consider the reliability of hatching eggs. Most times you end up paying 30$ for only Six eggs and then there's a chance none of them will hatch because they were shipped. Its definitely a gamble.

Ok. Thanks everyone! It would be a gamble...and I was hoping for her to raise them, instead of bringing them inside with a brooder..is there a way I can stop her from being broody?
