Broody eggs have started hatching...PICS

No idea. She has been a great broody and so far a super mom. You can bet she will be treated special after this!

The chicks just look so content with her and they are constantly zipping in and out from under her. I still have no idea how many she has. There were 9 eggs and I have seen 4 out at one time. I have also seen one that looked like a recent hatch so I believe I can confirm 5. Incubating is neat but watching her with the chicks and their interacting is just way cool.

I went out to check on the status of the broody hen and her chicks. As soon as I opened the door I say chicks everywhere! They were out walking around exploring while the momma hen continues to sit on the other eggs. I had no idea how many had hatched but as I watched I counted 7. She successfully hatched all 7 for 100% hatch rate!

Finally I couldn’t take it any more and decided to lift her up and see what the Jersey Giant eggs that I put under her on day two were doing. So far, nothing. Today they are only on day 19. I will have to watch to make sure she doesn’t give up on them. I don't know how long she will continue to sit for the last two eggs. If they hatch, she will have a total 100% hatch rate.

Simply amazing that she can get 100% when incubation is so hard for us!
