well the chicken that has been broody for so long finally decided that nothing was going to hatch and jumped off the nest.
she had 13 eggs under her -started with 3 and they just kept appearing - and I took them all out and cracked them to see what was in there.
only 3 had a layer of veins around the yolk, and the rest were normal looking - no chicks. they were frozen that day and I did not pick them apart.
I am happy that there were no chicks in them, as I would have been upset about that.
hopefully none of the other girls get broody until spring.
