Broody- for the first time!!

do chickens need that experience?
Well, :gigI don't know- I guess most would say no??
But I say YES!!!! I wouldnt have wanted to miss being a mom. I may not do it in my next life, but I'm glad I got the chance in this one! Plus, I want to have new chicks each year so I am thrilled to have another broody!!
Anyways- I guess I forgot that I was planning on locking her up for 5 more days without a trail --because I let her out today !! haha but she didnt go back to the next, so shes free again! yay!
Its been so stinking hot and humid here but my barn is ok, so they were able to remain in there which is nice and easy. But I took the opportunity (with this heat wave) to clean out the coop (deep litter with straw). I'm amazed that its been 10 months since we moved here and got chickens, and it only took about 2 hours and to remove all the straw, top layer of soil and power wash. Awesome!

I kept my girl in solitary in the boat shed in a small pen. Visiting her a couple times a day I could see her gradually settle down. On day 3, today she was eating again and cooing. I decided to give her a try and as far as I can tell she is back to normal. The only down side is that the 5 of them ares feisty with each other now.. I am hoping they will settle down soon. I am assuming no more brooders, at least for now
