Yes I've read it all on broody hens! Ha! Our Pullet has been broody for over a week. We have "let" nature take it's course, but are removing all eggs asap, taking her out 4 times a day to eat, drink and establish her place in the order, even took her in the pool to try and cool her off... she is broody... period. LOL!

I heard it will break by three weeks... any thoughts? I'm not secluding her in a cage or hanging her from a tree... We have 7 pet hens and that's it. they are pets first... ok now what do you guys suggest? Thanks!!!

So your not letting her set.... Ok then first things first she sounds VERY stubborn. One thing you can do is make is make sure she doesnt/cant have access to nest boxes(if you cant do this than it is ok). Also you can try moving her alot. There is also and ice bath you can give her. Some people just cant break a broody and let her set. One more thing if u can purchase 1 or more day old chicks for her to foster. She will be happy with chicks, and you dont have to wait for her to hatch them(that is if you cant break her)

Oh, ok thanks! I may try the ice bath... thought the pool was good enough but, obviously not so...
They won't break themselves? Hmmm... I feel badly as I have 7 and getting more just isn't good as I have a bad habit of
picking roos! lol! raised 3 and had to give them away to a farm : ( however I'd love to watch that cuteness!
Thanks again for your response and help!

if you're still around....
She's still broody! A dear chicken farmer friend said she'll stop soon...
well no way!
I move her 4 times a day at least, hand feed her and make her drink, her comb is losing it's color : (
she does take dust baths everyday at least
I think it's three weeks. I just want her to be healthy not worried about the eggs.
Any other thoughts? Thanks!
