Managed to get some fertile African geese (14) eggs- hope it arrives next week. My geese have been sitting for about 4 weeks now, on chicken eggs... Will they stop soon or sit indefinitely until they get a hatch? I plan on giving them each 3 eggs to hatch and put the rest in the incubator. If they are very likely to sit might as well give them each 7 eggs?

They probably would continue to sit, but I'm not sure it would be good for their health to do so. Really takes a toll on their body sitting on a nest nonstop for a month, and in your case 2 months in order to do back to back hatching. If it were me I'd put them all in the incubator, or abandon the chicken hatch now so maybe they will be in better shape to brood the goose eggs.

Thank you, if the chicken eggs do not hatch, how does one help them to stop sitting? I do not want to discourage broodiness but want them to be healthy? I will incubate the goose eggs myself.
