Broody has broken egg open and chick inside is breathing

@Ksw15 I just read this whole thread. What a wonderful job you did with Hope, When I read the post that you should have put her out of her pain, my heart sank. Thank the Lord you decided to give nature a chance. I know you must be very busy, but if you could just let us know what has happened in the last few weeks, I, for one would really appreciate it. Since reading this thread, I have become emotionally invested in Hope. :fl

Hi everyone! I was just thinking this morning that I should post an update.
Hope is a little over 4 weeks old now and just perfect. She has grown to be the same size as the other chicks, she’s getting all her feathers in now and is a really cool colour. Her belly is almost pink with a light grey stripe. She is such a sweet chicken, so chilled out and happy to be handled. I can’t see anything ‘wrong’ with her so fingers crossed she will just keep growing up and live a long happy chicken life!
Her and her flock are still in the brooder, I will move them out once Hope is 6 weeks old into their own little coop until they are big enough to hold their own with the other chickens and roosters. All our birds free range on our 7 acres and live a really great life so I’m really so happy for her that she has made it through.
Never give up even when the odds are stacked against you! Just think of Hope. 😊
Thank you all so much for your help and support!

I had a chick named hope too ! We named her that because she couldn’t walk so we rescued her from Tractor Supply! She was very weak, and all the chicks were piled on top of her. She was very VERY hungry and thirsty when we got her home and she slept in a box by my bed and loved to be held. She would chirp all morning and I would do everything with her in my lap including school. All my classmates knew her and looked forward to seeing her on camera every day. She soon got better and went on to her new home with her other sister. That’s what I love to do with my chickens. Rescue the sick ones and find them good homes. Of course I’ve had times where the chicks didn’t make it! But that’s what makes my chickens so special! I miss Hope so much! She was a very special girl! 😔💔
Oh you can see in her eyes how sweet your Hope was. My hope is the same. All rescue animals just end up so extra special in my opinion, when given the love they need.
I too have had all the weird and hopeless animals. One eyed dogs, a one eared rabbit, they always seem to find me. I can’t tell you how many thousands I’ve spent on vet fees! No regrets though. Every animal deserves a chance 💞

So sorry everyone I didn’t see your messages the last couple of weeks! I’m new to this forum and was initially getting all the alerts in my email but stopped getting any so didn’t realise there were people waiting for updates! See above.
Hope is awesome I’ll post a photo when I get home. 😊

Awesome job!! You did real well with all your animal friends 🤗
Look forward to seeing pics of Hope.

These are some of my gang, the four dark chicks are 11 weeks this week (hatched 14 Oct), the white hen is mama, old Penelope is lurking in the background. They r all trying to decide if they want to go outside in the snow - a big NO it seems haha...

Then there is the Dada, Pangoo Rooster-Brat picking his way through the snow...
