Hello y’all,
My broody cochin recently became a momma to 6 chicks yesterday but there’s still one egg, completely viable, left to hatch. I think I put the egg under her a day or two after she started setting the first 6 (My mistake). Should I leave her be or take the lone egg to the incubator. Shes still sitting on it but she gets up often to feed with the other chicks and I’m worried the egg will get cold.

Any thoughts?

Is it pipped? If not, I would probably move it to the incubator just to be safe.

Put in the incubator. Then give it to her once it hatches. It will chill and shrink wrap if she gets off it.

She got off of it again for about 10 minutes so I decided to put it in the bator. It is rocking back and forth so that’s a good sign. If it did get shrink wrapped how would I know?

If it isn't externally pipped yet it won't be shrink-wrapped. It rocking is good. Have you candled it? Was it internally pipped yesterday when you candled? I'm glad you got it, they get chilled pretty fast even if it's warm out when mama leaves.

It was not internally pipped, so far it’s still rocking about but no pip or chirps yet. I believe it’s day 21 for this egg
