Very likely. We have a rooster and I have seen the eggs from all the hens.

Having a rooster doesn’t guarantee fertile eggs. They most likely are, but not guaranteed. For future reference, when you have a broody, it’s not a bad idea to candle the eggs a week or so in, to confirm development. There are other factors that could have prevented the eggs from hatching. If the eggs are dirty or muddy, it can affect them. Or, if an egg broke in the nest and covered the others with yoke, or bacteria from a bad egg that broke in the nest.Very likely. Were all the eggs set under her at the same time?Omg one of the eggs hatched! I don’t know if I was wrong in my estimation or what but one hatched!
Yep. Been there, done thatOmg one of the eggs hatched! I don’t know if I was wrong in my estimation or what but one hatched!
I hope you miscalculated and she has a great hatch!Omg one of the eggs hatched! I don’t know if I was wrong in my estimation or what but one hatched!
The hen is a bad mother. She abandoned the chick and was out in the middle of the coop. The chick finally got back under, but the moment she saw the chick again she began pecking the chick. I took the baby away and put it in a box indoors with a brooder and a mirror. I have another broody who’s chicks are 1-2 weeks older than her. Are they to old to introduce the newbie to? Help!I hope you miscalculated and she has a great hatch!![]()
It would probably be easier just to take one of the older chicks and put it inside with her. The older chicks mom will most likely not accept a new, younger baby right now, and will be taking the old ones out and around which the little May not be ready to do. I mixed my chicks (3 weeks apart) with no issues, but keep an eye out if you do that just in case you get a bully. The hen is a bad mother.
