I have a broody hen that allows other hens in the box to play their egg and then she stuffs it under here. She started with 8 and had 18 today! I used a light tonight to check and was able to pull 5 out. 13 of which are left and I know 5 are behind and will not be hatching same day.
My question is, what do I do with the eggs that have not hatched when the 8 do hatch? I do not have an incubator on hand.

You have to

A. remove her if you want her to hatch
B. mark existing eggs and remove extra eggs daily.

Other hens will lay on top of a broody and she will keep tucking them under. She will most likely leave after the 8 hatch. Best bet is throw the rest in a dumpster far away from your house.

Wonders how far behind some of them are.
How long has she been setting?
If only a few days she may sit tight and hatch them all.
If she gets off the nest with the hatched chicks she will likely abandon any remaining eggs,
might want to line up an incubator.

I checked them late last night with a light. I took 5 newer eggs out and left the other 13. 8 are definitely going to be hatching anyday now. The other 5 might be about 3-4 days behind. They are all formed so I would hate to throw them out. Is there a way I can place the 5 under a light if she chooses to leave the nest when the 8 do hatch? This is my first season with hatching our own chicks so I am completely lost.
