Broody hen and still laying

I have a couple questions

One of my hens has gone broody, she has about 12 eggs under her, anyways
Is strange that she is still laying even though she's broody?
All my other hens that have gone broody have stopped laying until the chicks are on their own

And my another question
How can I give my flock more calcium?

Are you certain that other hens are not laying in her nest ? Truly broody hens stop laying. Oyster shell is a good source of calcium for the flock.

I only have three hens two are new so I still have them in a small coop and she is in a cage by herself because my rooster likes eating the eggs.

How many other hens are in the coop or pen with your hen?

In order to make sure that you hens have enough calcium hang a small can of oyster shell on the wire of the coop where the hens can get at it. Also it will never hurt to feed a complete laying ration.

I have had a hen that would lay while broody, what a mess that turned out to be. I would put her in a broody buster (wire cage) and get rid of that rooster!

Other hens will often lay where there is a broody so their eggs will hatch.
