Update: 2 eggs have peep holes and chirp. One was slushy and I had to discard. Now starts the waiting game .... tap tap
Glad the kids keep me running and I'm too busy to bug her constantly. Lol

Final count is one chick. Slightly disappointed but I may plant 4 chicks the feed store just got so she has more babies.
One was trying and I helped late morning with the membrane. it looked fine but I noticed right away it wasnt alive. After removing the rest of the shell I saw the swollen belly. See pics. Do not think it would have been viable. Crazy it cheeped yesterday though.

Awww, that’s gotta be tough. We did the same thing the night we knew the other 4 were duds. She would NOT leave the nest with her one who we named “Solo”. She immediately took the other 4 within seconds and they all just turned 6 weeks. She hasn’t booted them out yet! Thinking soon tho.

Trip to the feed store and we are in luck. Brand new shipment today of ameraucana, brahma and Rhode island reds. They still had their egg tooth and it was a done deal. She gets to mother 6 total as we had hoped for her. She took them well tonight. Will check on her in the morning. Here they are....

Don't those chicks look similar? If so, I may get an ayam cermani.... it's one if the breeds the farmer I got my egg from has. It would be so crazy to have the last remaining egg be this one....

Update:
This morning went well. After a night just snuggled into a nest without any way out I transferred them into a bin worh more space and food and water. Attitudes are good in the box.
