I have some eggs coming next week and my MIL's hen is broody so we are going to have her sit on the eggs. Can she stay in the coop with the other chickens or do we need to remove her and do something else with her? My MIL has a lot of her own opinions lol, so I was hoping for some input from some more chicken parents;) There will be 6+ eggs and she is a full sized hen.

Well, alot of people recommend you take them out & put them them in a safe

and secure erea, But I let mine hatch them in the erea their already in, and then

seperate when the chicks hatch, if that makes sense

One question I would ask is what are your other chickens? Do they have a reputation for harming the others? I have had my best luck moving them away from the others. The one horror story I had with a Broody was her sitting on her eggs and another more larger hen wanting to use her nest to lay her egg. She basically just pushed her out of the box.

That's my 2 cents.

They are all pretty gentle and I don't think there will be an issue but you never know. Might be better safe than sorry.
