I'm fairly new to raising chickens. Two of my buff orpingtons have gone broody after only a month of laying. I am having fertile eggs shipped to me this week and I want to let the hens sit on them. I have a separate area for them, secluded from the other hens. Should I just put the eggs in with my broody girls and wait? What do I need to do when/if the eggs hatch? Will they take care of the babies? How long should I keep the little ones away from the rest of the flock?
