I am so sorry. At least you were able to save on of her babies thus far. I really hope more make it! If your DH found weasel like tracks then it is a good chance that it was, as you originally thought, a weasel or a fisher (since a fisher is an evil weasel on steriods) . I hope you catch the SOB and I am sending you hatching vibes for the remaining eggs!
I agree with Banty Rooster - another good bait to try is sardines...secure the can and slightly open the top...they really smell and get the coon's attention. Good Luck - sorry about your chickens.

we are baiting with fresh trout heads! The teenage boys went trout fishing and set the traps with all their uncooked trout pieces! Secured those traps down good too!
maybe this is gross but can you post a picture of the toe and maybe someone on here can identify what you are dealing with. Or do you think it is a raccoon?

DH just called-two are out and healthy now He says there's alot broken/pipped/ cracked??? not sure if was done during the attack or it real pipping-2 babies-they were chilled at this am-my poor little miracle babies
we have 4 healthy babies so far-2 pips still going in bator-leaving 8 more to make any progress... a few looked very cracked from the struggle the mom made while being taken...one egg I found an hour ago in coop-it was COVERED in moms pooh, she must have let loose when she was getting pulled out-anyway I washed it off and put that in bator too-Im praying and hoping that more of these babies make it out-but I am so eternally gratefull to have the 4 I have now---more after 9:30pm tonight-DH and crew are predator hunting and proofing tonight!
