Broody hen late in season; first time

Thanks for the replies. I think I will either put her in the separate 4' x 4' coop I have because the layout of the big coop will make it hard to pen off an area with one nesting box. Should I fence off an area around it so she can go outside for a bit? I feel like she would want to still be part of the flock and this way she would only be able to see them when she was outside the small coop, but not able to interact with them due to the fence.

I've seen other chickens sharing her box on a few occasions and she stayed in, so I don't know what would have made her leave. There's only one chicken that can be mean when she's in a nest and she usually uses a different box.

Oh yeah, I remembered my other concern. The broody hen has been in her nest so long I can almost guarantee she hasn't been fertilized lately. Maybe I should remove her from the nest and take her outside so hopefully she scratches and pecks for a bit and my rooster can mate with her...

When the hen is broody she does not lay eggs
So it does not matter if she is fertile or not. You will have to give her another hens eggs
