We have our first Hen gone Broody. She is a Buff Brahma. She has been sitting for almost 2 weeks. She's got about 6 eggs under her, which we marked as soon as we saw she wasn't planning on coming off of them. We have been taking the other eggs she has been stealing. My question is this...she is with all the other chickens (19) at the moment. I don't think it's a good idea to let her hatch those chicks out around all those other chickens. I have another small coop I could move her and the eggs into. How do I go about this that won't stress her out? I need to get her moved this week, so if you have ideas, please let me know asap!

Thanks! :)

She's going to want to be on those eggs no matter where they happen to be. The best time to move her is after dark. It would be the least disruptive. She may need help remembering where the new nest is if she gets off. Just show her where the new nest is, and she'll soon remember on her own.

I recently did this with a pullet who is sitting on eggs. She had little to no problem with being moved.
